In April 2017, then-Chairman of Pilton Show Hugh Berry suffered a fatal heart attack. In consultation with his family, they would like his memory to be marked by a new award to a young villager for making the greatest contribution to this community.

One of his favourite Show memories was when a mini-monsoon struckin 2008, resulting in much laughter at what became known as ‘the Welly Barn Dance.’ Because of this, the award is a beautifully-carved walnut wooden welly, made by craftsman Matt Belfrage, who knew Hugh. Like wood, we are seeking someone solid and strong. Details of how to nominate young villagers aged between 16 and 24 will be available at the Post Office and village website after Easter, closing date will be mid-August so the award can be made in early September at the Show.
