Under the patronage of HRH Princess Muna Al Hussein
Many will recall the concert in Pilton Parish Church last April for Syrian refugees in Jordan by the Jordanian soprano, Zeina Barhoum. Alcantara is Arabic for bridge.
The money raised has been used to help a group of children perform with Zeina in a concert under the banner of the World Food Programme entitled “If music be the food of love”. It has taken over a year to come to fruition but has been put to very good use. Zeina will be describing this in more detail when she is here later this month.
Peter Lawrence and Zeina Barhoum have developed this exciting project with support for a book from Lorraine Wright, Leena Butler, Abbi Mnatzaganian and Andrew Shaw from Pilton, along with seven others including Princess Muna Al Hussein (mother of King Abdullah), the Dean of Bath and Wells, and others from the Levant.
