Wassail update – Food and History Group Meeting

Our next PVHG meeting/event is on Saturday 16th Jan.
It is the Pilton Wassail, which will be soon upon us!

We are still looking for helpers and offers of apple cake (phone 890332 or email m.tofts@btinternet.com)

Gabriel’s Orchard has produced some fine cider and apple juice!

We will be starting with Morris Dancers followed by Apple Cake (thank
you cake-bakers!) the Mummers Play and crowning of the Wassail King and
Queen.
Then off to Gabriel’s Orchard for singing (thanks Village Voices),
shotguns and liquid refreshment (apple juice, mulled or cold, plus the
fermented sort….) and decorating the trees.

Bring children, torches, lanterns and ribbons to decorate the apple trees.

Bring pots, pans and wooden spoons, horns and whistles, joining our drummers to make lots of noise.

Bring a singing voice if you have one, and a sense of fun!
Wear silly hats, warm clothing and wellies for the orchard.

Meet at the Village Hall car park at 3pm (Club bar will be open).
Gabriel’s Orchard about 4 pm where you can buy their own Cider and
Apple Juice (cold or hot and spiced if you like).

The event will probably wind up about 6pm in time for supper!

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Village Hall parking will be restricted, please park elsewhere.

After the Wassail there is a choice as to where to eat, if you are interested….
